Boiler house

After seeing Garry Lance's boiler house it inspired me to start back to work on mine. I started out going to use part of the Walther's Coke Retort kit be decided to build my own addition. Here are some before and after pictures. Some of the Detail parts are from Garry Lance. The piping is wooden dowel rods and brass fittings.

Slab carriers

Slab carriers were built from Tyco/Mantua culvert flat cars. Added side post and ends. Kadee couplers was body mounted and trucks and wheels were changed out. 

Slag Haulers

These wheeled slag haulers are from Garry Lance. They are cast resin and are nicely detailed. Additional detail parts added is a strobe light and hydronic hoses which were added only to the red hauler. Yellow hauler will get hoses added at a later dated. 

Glass Display Case

I have been looking for a good size glass case for sometime now and yesterday I found one at a very reasonable price. Once I got the case home I took the rollers off and electrical wiring and lights out and gave the case a good cleaning. I painted the outside of the case a hunter green color to match the layout. Painted the inside white and installed LED lighting. Built a base out of 2x4 and set it under the layout. It turned out better than what I thought it would.

Ladle Carrier

Been working on a ladle carrier. This started out as a cheap heavy haul truck from Smart Toys that I picked up a few years back. I removed the rear wheels on the tractor and replaced them with wheels that came from Ralph Ratcliffe Models and the trailer came from Garry Lance. I still need to add a few detail parts but it is a start. Garry modeled the trailer after one of Dean Freytag's models.

Derailment on the KV&O

Must have been a derailment somewhere. KV&O U30B 5500 has been coupled up and supplies loaded onto the derailment train.
