I am in the process of adding a BOF Vessel outside the BOF building. This is the outbound hot metal side of the furnace.

Here is the area after the ground covering has been removed.

Work bench

Had a few people ask about my work Bench. Where I build most of my models. It isn't much but it get the job done. It is located on the back side of the peninsula below the unloading docks at the steel mill.

Completed locomotive.

Locomotive still needs a good weathering but here it is put to work switching the scrap side of my BOF.

The locomotive was striped primed painted and decaled. Next few pictures are of the locomotive before I reassembled it.

2-8-0 Steamer Part 1

While reading Steel Mill Railroads in Color Vol. 2 I came across a couple pictures of Northwestern Steel & Wire company's (NWS&W) 0-8-0 steam locomotive. I know steam locomotives are nothing new in a steel mill but what caught my attention was this locomotive was still in use on a daily bases in 1979. With my mill set between the 70s and 80s, I figured I would model one for my steel mill.

I started with a Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 painted green for the Southern railroad. Nice locomotive good color scheme but I have bigger and better plans for it. The picture was taken on my good friend's layout Ronald Armstrong.
